Arusha, 16 August : Tanzania have started the Castel Regional Trophy Southern B-Zone tournament with an impressive win over Burundi. In a match played at the Friedkin Recreation Centre on Tuesday afternoon, Tanzania overpowered Burundi by 60 points to 3. Tanzania enjoyed a 24-3 lead at the break. New cap and former Natal Schools player Geoff Channells came close to equalling the world record when he scored five tries on debut. The record is held by Springbok wing Tonderai Chivangu who scored 6 tries on debut against Uruguay in 2005 . According to Tanzanian coach Tinus Aucamp, this was Tanzania’s finest performance since they entered the international scene just over two years ago. The next match in the tournament is on Thursday at the same venue when Burundi play against Rwanda. The final match of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday when the hosts take on Rwanda.
