ABSA AFRICAN LEOPARDS to play BRITISH ARMY
The ABSA African Leopards, Africa’s rugby team, will play the British Army Senior XV at the Aldershot Military Stadium, near London, at 19h00 on Thursday November 23rd. 2006.
“The 2006 Leopards will represent the best of rugby in Africa,” said Abdelaziz Bougja, President of the Confederation of Rugby. “The team will draw players from nine different countries, and the match will be televised on terrestrial TV in 32 African countries.
“Rugby is growing throughout Africa, and the Leopards will reflect the rising standards throughout the continent.”
The African Leopards played their inaugural match against a South African Students team in Johannesburg last year, and continue to develop as a continental team that bridges the gap between Africa’s emerging national teams and higher levels of the game.
“We are delighted to be hosting the African Leopards,” said Gary Stocks, manager of the British Army Senior XV, “and we look forward to staging an outstanding rugby occasion.”
