Johannesburg, 6 October ; The South African Amateur side has reached the finals of the AFRICA CUP after defeating Madagascar by 48 points to 6 in the semi final of the competition played on Friday evening. The powerfull South African side led by 25 points to 6 at the break. They scored seven tries in their victory which was revenge for their unexpeted defeat against the Makis in the semi finals last year.
South Africa will now have to wait until November 11 to know who they will face in the finals. The winner of Group A of the African Cup, which is also the World Cup Qualifying Group, will go through to the final which is scheduled for November the 18 th.
Due to flight arrangements the match between the SA Amateurs and Madagascar was brought forward to Friday night but the decision by SA Rugby to play the match at the poorly lit Bill Jardine Stadium angered Madagascar officials which saw the choice of venue as a lack of respect towards them. The stadium is situated in one of crime ridden ares of Johannesburg which resulted in only 200 spectators turning up to watch the game.
