BAMBURI RUGBY SUPER SERIES GOES REGIONAL

This year’s Bamburi Rugby Super Series will be a regional affair with two teams from Uganda and one from Tanzania joining the four franchises from Kenya .
The even kicks off on April 6 with the semi-finals slated for April 28 and the final on May 5.
Sponsors for this successful rugby competition that brings together the cream of top players from the region was scheduled to start on March 3 but the sponsors, Bamburi Cement asked for postponement to enable then finalise the logistics.
There are two Pools this year. Pool A has Uganda 1, Rhinos (Kenya Harlequin, Mean Machine, Kisumu and Bungoma) and Uganda II. Pool B comprises Tanzania , Buffaloes (Nondescripts, Mwamba, Strathmore University and Daystar University ), Cheetahs (Impala, Nakuru, Blak Blad and JKUAT) and Lions (Kenya Commercial Bank, USIU-A, Mombasa Sports Club and Africa Nazarene University ).
The top two teams from each pool shall proceed to the semi finals to be played on April 28.

April 6: Uganda 1 v Rhinos, Tanzania v Buffaloes, Lions v Cheetahs; April 14: Rhinos v Uganda II, Lions v Buffaloes, Tanzania v Cheetahs; April 21: Uganda 1 v Uganda II, Lions v Tanzania, Buffaloes v Cheetahs; April 28: Winner Pool B v Runner up Pool A, Winner Pool A v Runner up Pool B; May 5: Play-off and final.
