South Africa’s Springboks wiped out Uganda She Cranes in the Confederation of Africa Rugby(CAR) Women 7s tournament at Kyadondo Club, Kampala. yesterday. In a repeat final holders South Africa came from behind to defeat Uganda
before a partisan home crowd. South Africa triumphed over Uganda in the first edition last year at the same venue.

Gigantic Christine Kizito was the first to get on the score board with a try which was converted by Rachael Kakaire to give the hosts a deceptive 7-0 half time lead.
The South Africans turned on the heat in second half with the eventual tournament MVP Natasha Hofmeester lifting the holders with two superb tries. Lamla Mowoti and Nomtha Xape scored one each to complete the damage.

The South African coach Denver Wannies praised both teams . ” The qualilty of the competitions was great. Uganda is a very good side capable of competing
the world level. My players were a bit nervous but they got over it and out up a good game. They did what they do best,” Wannies remarked.

The Uganda coach Herbert Wafula attributed the defeat to numerous errors, “They waited for us to make blunders and they punished us. You have got to give it to the South Africans for coming from behind to win the final,” Wafula commented.
