Mauritius Rugby Union ( RUM) has named their coaches for the 2007 season. Former assistant coach Gerhard Guidi has been elevated to the position as head coach of the senior national team. Guidi, a former centre for Agen, takes over from Bernard Castellin. Guidi will be now stranger to the new position as he was Castellin’s assistant for a number of years. Guidi’s main job this year will be to prepare Mauritius for the Castel Regional Trophy Tournament in Botswana in July. Guidi was part of the coaching staff when Mauritius won the Castel Trophy in 2005.

Former RUM president Denis Ulcoq has been appointed as the National Sevens Coach. Mauritius will take part in Sevens at the Indian Ocean Games in Madagscar in August. Phillipe Lamusse will again take care of the Junior side and he will be assisted by former national captain Daniel Maigrot. The Mauritius Juniors are also set for participation in the CAR under 18 tournament in Botswana.
