London, 17 November : Three players from the victorious Namibian side have agreed to join to the ABSA AFRICAN Leopards for their match against the British Army at Aldershot on November 23. Number eight Jacques Burger, hooker JM Meyer and flyhalf Emile Wessels will join the squad in London on Monday. The availability of all three players is a huge boost for the Leopards as the three are in top form having made huge contributions to Namibia’s qualification for the Rugby World Cup in France next year. Burger, who playes for the South African provincial side, the Griquas, captained Namibia in their all important win over Tunisia in Windhoek last month and then three weeks ago had an outstanding game in the first of the two play-off matches against Morocco. JM Meyer is one of the most promising players in Namibia and depsite his age established himself as the top choice for the Namibian number 2 jersey. Emile Wessels’ kicking played a massive role in Namibia’s success with his accurate goal kicking during the World Cup Qualifying campaign. His ball distribution and pace will be huge asset to the African Leopards, in Namibia ’s last two matches Namibia scored seven tries with Wessels in the number 10 jersey. Morocco’s Abdel Boutati has pulled out of the side after his French Club, Toulouse, refused to release him for the game. The squad will assemble in London on Monday.
